Here in Tokyo, there's a double booking in my schedule, as I'll be DJing a bit for "Australia Day" at The Pink Cow, while the Learn Japanese Pod crew get together at Bar Popeye in Ryogoku for some local and imported craft brews.

We discuss the early season calendar (previously considered training races until only a decade or so ago) with increased interest as the Tour Down Under gains ProTour Status. Oh yes, The Pro Tour is back.

Why is Basso back? VeloNews explains what the deal is. Apparently he's done his two years, and the gentlemen's agreement to keep riders out of the ProTour has already been ignored by Bruyneel & Co once before regarding Basso, so this time no one is paying any attention to it.

Basso has recently posted his blood values online--but it's not what you might think, the blood is not for sale--as has Patrick Sinkewitz.

Someone of this might be old news to die hard cycling fans, but our commentary is always FRESH! Um, I'm about a week putting this up, so I guess that means "better late than never."

"As part of the ON SITE EMERGING ARTIST SUPPORT PROGRAM MUSIC 2008, I will be presenting "3-D Space Slitar," a multi-media performance involving live music using home-made instruments called slitars, some projections of videos visible through 3-D glasses as well as some old classics (music videos): "The Bath Project," "Tabo and Charles sur le Toit," and my slitar version of "Oshiri Kajiri Mushi."

This is by far the most comprehensive solo live show I have done so far, so be sure to come if you're in Tokyo on the 22nd.

Get two for the price of one!  First of all, it's the monthly Flo-Union Media Lounge at The Pink Cow tonight (that's Sunday in Tokyo), and it's the return of Stone River and El Gringo providing the sonic wallpaper (as DJ Don't Panyk Danyk is fond of saying).

Osaka mission accomplished:  Much fun was had. [Photos: Elixir photo gallery, more to come]  We're now back in in Shiga eating osechi and basically just being lazy.  I've been alternating between the computer screen and the window, watching wet sloppy snowflakes steadily plummeting to earth as random daytime TV broadcasts ekiden exploits and shogi strategies into our lives.  The Emperor's Cup final has just started under sunny Tokyo skies--Osaka Gamba vs Kashiwa Reysol.  Go Gamba!
